The importance of being measured
I am one of those people, if you haven’t already realized, that needs encouragement to feel like I am doing something worthwhile. When I know that I am doing something important, I am a stubborn thing(my family will vouch), and will continue past what most “normal” people would. But for the most part, I need encouragement and specific results to show the progress. So, I got the best news last week when I was measured and tested my body fat again, at the halfway point in my 13 week program. Amazing! Never in my entire life have I ever been so soundly convinced of the rightness of what I have committed to! Granted, it is not only my physical progress that I am measuring, also that of my family and my insides/mental health, but right now it’s all about me. Ha.
So here they are:
Total weight: 20 lbs
Lean muscle gained: 4 lbs
Body Fat: lost 6% !
Push ups: from only 22 to 42 in one minute
Crunches: from only 44 to 60 in one minute
Flexibility: from barely touching the ground with my fingertips to almost a flat palm
Bicep: lost 1 inch
Chest: lost 6 inches (yep, unfortunately some was boob. Luckily my husband still loves me!)
Waist: lost 5 inches
Hip: lost 2 inches
Thigh: lost 3 inches
Calf: lost 2 inches
Mentally: gained a heck of a lot of confidence, energy, and my commitment went up a couple of levels!
I absolutely can’t wait to see where I am in 6 more weeks! It makes me want to re-commit to my better eating habits, not quite so much coffee, and indulgences in general. Like that darn cheese pizza that is so easy to make and eat! Arrgh! I’m pretty excited about a bunch of new things I’ve been told about and discovered (because my husband loves to cook them for me!) in the nutrition genre, tune in tomorrow to hear more.
YOU ARE AMAZING! How satisfying it must be to see progress like that!

| Posted 2 years, 12 months agoHi…you don’t know me
Found your blog through the RX page on Riverside Health. Thinking of joining the RX program and wondered if you’d be willing to chat a little more about your experience.
I’m a 39 y/o mother of 3 y/o who needs a new body…does this really work? Is it mostly men? Will I feel out of place? Seems like you like it!
Thanks and best wishes,

Hi Julie,
| Posted 2 years, 11 months agoOf course I’d be willing to chat! The class I am in is actually all women, and we have a really great time joking around when we aren’t totally dying. Actually, we have a great time even when we are dying! Heather is great at being both encouraging and pushes you at the same time. I would recommend her to anyone! I’m not sure about the morning class, but I know the evening class with Andrew is half men, half women. I know the men who are in there, and they are all very nice. The thing is, even though you are in a class, it is a very personal experience because you are pushing yourself and focusing so much on what you are doing, that a lot of the time you don’t even look around til halfway through the class!
Heck, ya, this really works! I have to say, it is the single best decision I have made in my life regarding my health. The only one that I feel has had as much impact in mine and my family’s life is the decision to change our eating habits. They really go hand in hand. I would be more than happy to talk to you more,
when are you usually at the club? Do you ever come into Kids’ Club?
